Un cuvînt pe zi (NT) – A da har – didōmi charis

Expresia didōmi charis („a da har”) apare de cinci ori în NT şi este foarte evocatoare. Aşa cum am menţionat în meditaţia din 17 martie, didōmi (1325) înseamnă „a da cu propriul acord, a da de bunăvoie”. Harul, desigur, este cuvântul charis (5485, vezi 13-14 februarie), care, folosit în contextul mântuirii, înseamnă favoarea nemeritată arătată de Dumnezeu omului, manifestată în principal prin persoana şi lucrarea lui Isus Cristos, fără ca meritul să aparţină omului sau vreunei fapte a lui.

Deci, ce înseamnă pentru noi să dăm har altora? În linii mari, cuvintele har şi favoare descriu o bunătate excepţională, o bunăvoinţă specială şi o prietenie dincolo de cea obişnuită. Vorbirea noastră ar trebui să fie astfel. Pavel scrie în Efeseni 4:29 că „[vorbirea noastră] trebuie să dea har celor ce o aud”. Uneori spunem lucrurile pe care trebuie să le spunem, o facem chiar la timpul potrivit, dar o facem într-un mod nepotrivit. Trebuie să vorbim întotdeauna cu iubire, cu preocupare pentru alţii şi cu bunătate. Deşi trebuie să „spunem adevărul” (Ef. 4:15) întotdeauna, noi nu ne umilim niciodată în faţa aşa-numitei politici de sinceritate totală, care deseori îi răneşte pe cei din jurul nostru. Cuvintele noastre sunt întotdeauna pline de bunătate.

În Talmudul evreiesc există o poveste despre un rege care a trimis doi bufoni să-i facă un serviciu. I-a spus unuia: „Nebunule Simon, du-te şi adu-mi cel mai bun lucru din lume!”; iar celuilalt: „Iar tu, prostuţule Ioan, du-te şi găseşte-mi cel mai rău lucru din lume.” Amândoi au plecat şi s-au întors foarte repede. Rânjind, Simon a făcut o plecăciune şi a spus: „Sire, iată cel mai bun lucru din lume!” În mâinile sale ţinea o limbă. Prostuţul Ioan a venit şi el înaintea tronului şi a desfăcut legătura pe care o ţinea în mână: „Iată cel mai rău lucru din lume, Sire!” Era o altă limbă!

Într-adevăr, limba este cel mai bun, dar şi cel mai rău lucru pe care îl avem. Ea poate ajuta sau poate pune piedici; poate zidi sau poate distruge. Să ne întrebăm de-a lungul zilei: „Oare limba este cel mai bun lucru la mine sau cel mai rău? Vorbirea mea Îl slăveşte pe Domnul, îi zideşte pe cei din jurul meu?” Să ne rugăm şi noi împreună cu psalmistul: „Pune, Doamne, o strajă înaintea gurii mele şi păzeşte uşa buzelor mele!” (Ps. 141:3).
