Where You Ats?

It was on a billboard for cell phone service.

Is it incorrect English?

But it’s a common question phrased in that exact manner in many
areas. It simply means, where are you now?

The phrase came to mind when a man from out of the U.S. ordered
the Words for Healing CD instant download from MyHealingCD.com.

He emailed us and said that he did not get an email with a
download link after he ordered the CD. It wasn’t in his junk
mail folder or anywhere else that he could find. That was odd.

I checked his order prepared to resend the link. I then looked
at the email address that he had entered. There was no @ sign
and there was nothing after what should have been after the @

For some strange reason the memory of the incorrect English
billboard popped in my head. I thought, “Where’s You Ats?”

He didn’t have no ats sign to further adulterate the language.

The @ sign designates which domain your address is in.
@yahoo.com, @hotmail.com, @gmail.com, etc. all designate the
domain name to which your address belongs.

The first definition of domain is, “A territory over which rule
or control is exercised.” A domain is also called a kingdom.

Every kingdom has a king, a person or entity the inhabitants of
the kingdom serve. Jesus said it best,
“No one can serve two
masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he
will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot
serve both God and Money.” (Mat 6:24 NIV)
I believe that verse is absolutely the roughest verse in the
Bible. I preached a sermon about it a decade ago called exactly that.

Sometimes we forgot whose kingdom we are in.

Where You Ats?

“The Roughest Verse In The Bible.”
